This year, HSTF youth and staff took an artistic risk by co-writing and co-producing El Barrio: Boston’s Latin Quarter Musical. Grounded in Afro-Latin arts and culture, this interactive show features the stories of countless immigrants, youth, and hardworking families that have contributed to the fabric of our community – the Hyde/Jackson Square area of Jamaica Plain. We’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to the hundreds of community members who joined us on Saturday, May 20th for the premiere of El Barrio. Together we witnessed a story of resistance and the power of collective action!
HSTF uses the arts and community development to promote the creativity, leadership, and overall potential of young people. Through projects like El Barrio, our youth develop the skills they need to succeed today and into the future. As we enter the summer, we ask you to consider sponsoring a youth to work at HSTF. Your gift will help youth continue to better their communities. Thank you!
