Latin American Spectacle

Posted by Jessica Guzman in Blog with 2 Comments

Based on Once A Blue Moon, Double Edge’s Summer Spectacle
2015/2016, the story follows a traveler who returns to his hometown
after many years. Memories of his past and stories about the town’s
colorful inhabitants evoke reflections about an increasingly universal
theme: how progress can displace people. The show is imbued with the
excitement of a Latin American carnival, and draws upon memory,
culture, and song. Wrapped in a world of magic realism, audience members
encounter and mingle with townspeople while traversing the
landscape, which has surprising similarities to Boston’s Latin Quarter.

Directed by Stacy Klein – Produced by Adam Bright
Created by Carlos Uriona, Matthew Gassman, Milena Dabova,
John Peitso, Hannah Jarrell and the Double Edge Ensemble
with youth actors, dancers, and musicians from
Hyde Square Task Force

The spectacle begins at HSTF’s Blessed Sacrament Church Building,
361 Centre St, Jamaica Plain, and travels in parade to Mozart Park.

Produced in partnership with
Double Edge Theatre, Hyde Square Task Force, and Charlestown Working Theater.
