Whether long standing supporters of HSTF or learning about us for the first time, attendees of last week’s event were moved by the candid words of former JEA and Caminos participant, Jelitza. Jelitza shared that as she prepares to graduate from UMass Boston with her Bachelor’s degree this week, she can certainly say that HSTF has been there beside her every step of the way. We are so proud to have witnessed her journey for the past several years! HSTF has made some new friends from the Jamaicaway Tower and Townhouses. Martha Matlaw and HSTF board member Jerry Rubin hosted a wonderful intimate fundraiser last week and started what will surely be a lasting relationship between HSTF and Jamaicaway Tower and Townhouses. Thank you to all the residents and friends who came to the event!

At HSTF, community is everything. We see this exemplified when a Board member who’s a doctor connects with a young person hoping to study health sciences, or when trained social workers on our Board get to speak with a Caminante working on completing her BSW. That’s why nights like last night are so important— HSTF Board members don’t only contribute to our mission in their regular meetings, but they take the extra step to connect directly with our youth.
