VIVA EL LATIN QUARTER!

Posted by Jessica Guzman in Blog with No Comments

SUMMER EVENTS | JULY – AUGUST

This summer we will be hosting a series of FREE community events in Boston’s Latin Quarter! Viva el Latin Quarter is part of Hyde Square Task Force’s work to maintain a vibrant community in the Hyde/Jackson Square neighborhood of Jamaica Plain and to preserve and celebrate Afro-Latin arts and culture. We’ll have great live music, mosaic making, Zumba, and discussions on important issues affecting many in our community.

On July 11th, the series will kick off  with some amazing Salsa and Bomba y Plena music from the Eric German Band. Can’t wait until then? On July 8th, we’re also hosting a porch as part of JP Porchfest! CLICK HERE FOR OUR FULL EVENT CALENDAR.

THE SILENT CRISIS II

Posted by Jessica Guzman in Blog with No Comments

Earlier this month, Hyde Square Task Force was happy to host the Greater Boston Latino Network for a press release to share the Silent Crisis II report. The new report reveals that Latinos continue to be left out of Boston and Chelsea executive positions, despite major population growth.

The event was covered by numerous media outlets, including the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Bay State Banner and Telemundo. Please find the news clips and full report at GBLN’s website: http://www.greaterbostonlatinos.org/
