ORGANIZINGEDUCATIONYOUTH LEADERSHIP

Each year, we host a number of civic events that celebrate and strengthen our community:

Jamaica Plain World’s Fair

Held in September of each year, the World’s Fair, hosted in part by HSTF, attracts thousands of people to Hyde/Jackson Square, where they enjoy live music and a wide range of food and crafts vendors that reflect the diversity of our neighborhood. HSTF youth often perform at this event and publicize their community organizing efforts.

Three Kings

Each January 6th, the Hyde Square Task Force celebrates this traditional Latino holiday through a community event that celebrates and encourages literacy. The “three kings” – representing the Three Wisemen of Christian tradition – visit children and families at the nearby John F. Kennedy Elementary School and give away more than 200 children’s books.

Annual Meeting

Each year, hundreds of HSTF youth, families, and supporters come together to celebrate our accomplishments and participate in the election of our Board of Directors.  The Annual Meeting also features awards, youth performances, music and food.

Summer Nights Out

Held in local parks or on the grounds of our space at the Cheverus, Summer Nights Out brings together residents of Hyde/Jackson Square and beyond to celebrate community and culture through fun activities, live music and youth performances.  These events are also opportunities to create positive relationships and raise awareness about current youth organizing initiatives.
