Healing the Wounds of Violence
Violence takes more than just a physical toll--it brings emotional and psychological devastation to our community. HSTF's Health Career Ambassadors have produced a documentary that explores the impact of violence on community health entitled, Looking for Peace--One Block at a Time.
H-CAP will premiere the film on Thursday, May 29, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the John D. O'Bryant African American Institute at Northeastern University, 40 Leon Street, Suite 212.
The premiere will be followed by a panel discussion on youth violence in Boston. For more information, please contact Guy at (617) 524-8303 x302 or guy@hydesquare.org.

HSTF Youth Paint for Peace
|
At the end of a week marred by violence, over 50 youth gathered on the steps of the Curley K-8 School on April 25th to demonstrate their commitment to peace. After a brief press conference, youth under the guidance of Sidewalk Sam and the Hyde Square Task Force's Community Development Artists fanned out across the city with the goal of painting more than 600 doves on sidewalks throughout Boston.
The Paint for Peace initiative aims to keep peace in the hearts and minds of our community, to stir hope in the wake of violence, and, in the words of Sidewalk Sam, to give youth the opportunity to "...speak out with brushes, not guns and rededicate our streets to peace, not violence."
