Highlights:

YOUTH ACHIEVE VICTORY IN JACKSON SQUARE!  The Hyde Square Task Force youth arrived at a major milestone and achieved an unprecedented victory on June 1st when Mayor Menino and Boston Redevelopment Authority Director Mark Maloney announced that the Jackson Partners, Inc. Development Team was chosen to develop the several acres of vacant and underutilized land surrounding the Jackson Square T Station, on the border of Jamaica Plain and Roxbury.

COLLEGE BOUND MENTORING PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS:  Piloted last year, the College Bound Mentoring Program is designed to provide high school seniors with the individual attention that is needed to survive the college application process.  The program matches trained community and college volunteers with a Hyde Square Task Force senior for the whole academic year to support him/her with:

- researching different schools
- completing the applications
- editing personal statements
- finding scholarships

The program requires a minimum of a 2 hour commitment per week beginning September through June, and potentials mentors will be asked to attend a 2 hour training prior to the matching.  Interested applicants should contact Yi Chin Chen as soon as possible via email at yichin@hydesquare.org, or at the office 617-524-8303 ext. 303.
