Peace Goes on Tour in Boston
|
On Thursday, May 29th, youth, press, city officials, and concerned community members packed the Curry Student Center Ballroom at Northeastern University to watch the premiere of Looking for Peace--One Block at a Time. This documentary, produced by the Hyde Square Task Force in cooperation with Alex Gomez of Mystic Mirada Productions, casts youth violence as a preventable public health issue.
Because of the rave reviews for the documentary, HSTF's Health Careers Ambassadors are training in group facilitation and public speaking so that they can launch a city-wide 'peace' tour. At each stop they will screen the film and lead a discussion regarding steps we can take to alleviate the epidemic of youth violence.
To schedule a viewing of Looking for Peace--One Block at a Time, contact Guy at 617-524-8303 x302 or via email at guy@hydesquare.org.

Bringing the Family Together
at the 2008 Annual Meeting
On Thursday, June 19th, nearly 400 community residents could be found at the Hyde Square Task Force's Annual Meeting, dining on food donated from local eateries, listening to local band Rice and Beans accompanied by youth musicians, toasting to good health with smoothies made by the Health Career Ambassadors, and getting caught up in the passion of the tango as preformed by HSTF's Ritmo en Acción youth dance troupe.
The Hyde Square Task Force is enormously thankful that the community came out in force to show their support and learn more about our many youth programs.
HSTF would also like to thank Tacos El Charro, The Real Deal, Miami Restaurant, Yely's Coffee Shop, Pimentel Market, Nemo's, Zesto's, and our local Stop & Shop for their delicious donations!
