Don't miss this opportunity to join the staff of the Hyde Square Task Force, an award-winning youth community development organization based in the Hyde/Jackson Square neighborhood on the border between Jamaica Plain and Roxbury. The Individual Donor Development Specialist ("Donor Specialist") will make a significant contribution toward the ambitious development goals of the Hyde Square Task Force's five-year plan for mission-driven growth and expansion.
The successful candidate will be able to independently manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Superior communication skills a must. Candidates should have demonstrated fundraising success and proven skills in individual donor development, with a preference for experience with major gifts development.
The Donor Specialist is a full-time position with a competitive salary and opportunity for professional growth. Position reports to the Director of Finance and Development and works closely with other members of the HSTF Development Team.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop / implement calendar of individual donor development activities, including direct mail campaigns and "points of entry" events such as Advisory Committees, Open Houses and House Parties.
- Work with Director of Finance and Development and individual donor consultants to develop and implement a major gifts strategy.
- Research and adopt new ways of giving, including monthly and multi-year pledges, events sponsorship, gifts of stock and annuities, etc.
- Develop / implement program-specific donor development activities in partnership with program staff, including the creation of program advisory committees and program-specific events.
- Facilitate involvement of Board, staff and participants in donor development activities; identify and implement training and orientation as needed.
- Maintain internal databases of contacts and contributors
- Work with other members of HSTF Development Team to create compelling and up-to-date communications materials including: press releases, program descriptions, newsletters, annual reports, web / internet-based publications, and other promotional materials.
- Work with other members of HSTF Development Team to meet and evaluate annual fundraising objectives.
- Prepare internal reports as necessary.
- Other development-related duties as required.
Additional responsibilities:
- Attend weekly staff meetings, weekly meetings of the Development Team, and other meetings as necessary.
- Work with staff / Board / participants to plan and implement community events such as our Evening in Mozart Park, Three Kings' Day Celebration, Jamaica Plain World's Fair, and our Annual Meeting.
- Participate in in-house professional development activities.
Required qualifications:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Superior organizational skills and overall attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadline
- Proven ability to work independently
- Strong understanding of and ability to communicate goals of community-based youth development programs, and of our organization in particular
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Power Point
- 1-3 years' related fundraising and communications experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in creating / implementing major gifts campaigns and large-scale fundraising events
- Proficiency in print- and web-based graphic design
- Bilingual / bicultural
